Be the Heroine | Carra
It was the worst day ever.
Normally I can look at anybody and see the good in him. I can even find something good to say about a mugger as he’s taking my purse.
Today people sucked. Everyone was mean and short-tempered (someone even called me a rude name). Then my boss yelled at me, which he’s never done before. It made me so upset that I knocked over my coffee mug.
It broke.
It was my favorite mug—the one my husband gave me the day I started this dream job.
More of a nightmare today.
I went home in tears, holding it all in until I was in a safe place. A small sob escaped as I parked with haste. The first tear fell as I unlocked the door.
My husband walked into the living room as I dropped my purse on the floor. In one hand he had a plate of cupcakes. In the other, he had a bright pink Cosmo. His face lit up when he saw me. “Good timing,” he said, set everything down on the coffee table. “I have treats ready for you.”
I burst into tears.
The next thing I knew I was in his arms and he soothed my hair. “Don’t cry,” he said, sounding on the verge of panic. “The Cosmo was supposed to be a reward, not punishment.”
I laughed through the tears, feeling like he’d lifted the world off me. “You’re my reward,” I said as I kissed him.
